Football

Football is a team sport played between two teams, typically consisting of eleven players each, where the objective is to score goals by getting a ball into the opposing team’s designated goal area. The game is primarily played using the feet, although players are allowed to use other parts of their bodies, except for the arms and hands (with some exceptions for goalkeepers). Football is known for its strategic play and teamwork, with players occupying various roles, such as forwards, defenders, and midfielders.

The term “football” can refer to different sports depending on the region; for example, in many countries, it denotes what is known as soccer in the United States and Canada. Football is governed by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) at the international level, which organizes the World Cup and other competitive tournaments. The sport is celebrated worldwide for its cultural significance, fan engagement, and as a major global sporting event.
