Soccer

Soccer, also known as football in most countries outside North America, is a team sport played between two teams of eleven players each on a rectangular field. The objective of the game is to score goals by getting a spherical ball into the opposing team’s net. Players primarily use their feet to kick the ball, but they can also use their bodies (excluding their arms and hands) to control or pass the ball. The game is played in two halves, each lasting 45 minutes, with a brief halftime interval.

The sport is governed by the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) at the international level, and numerous leagues and associations exist at national and regional levels. Soccer is one of the most popular sports globally, featuring major tournaments such as the FIFA World Cup, which occurs every four years, and various domestic leagues and championships worldwide. The game emphasizes skills such as dribbling, passing, shooting, and tactical awareness. With a rich history and a significant cultural impact, soccer is celebrated for its ability to bring people together and generate passion among fans.
