Rugby

Rugby is a team sport that originated in England in the early 19th century. It is played with an oval-shaped ball on a rectangular field, divided into two halves and marked with goalposts at either end. The game is characterized by two teams, typically consisting of 15 players in Rugby Union and 13 players in Rugby League, who aim to score points by carrying, kicking, or passing the ball to advance it into the opposing team’s in-goal area or by kicking it through the goalposts.

Scoring can occur in several ways, including a try (touching the ball down in the in-goal area), a conversion (kicking the ball through the goalposts after a try), a penalty goal, or a drop goal. Rugby places a strong emphasis on teamwork, physical strength, and strategic play, and it features a variety of rules governing tackling, ball handling, and player conduct. The sport has a significant following globally, with various domestic leagues and international competitions, including the Rugby World Cup, showcasing the best teams from around the world.
